It’s time to bring soul power back to the City center. Join us for the annual Florida Juneteenth event celebrating the jazz, blues and gospel music that was once performed at the South Street Casino and Well’s Built Hotel in Downtown Orlando. This free, family-friendly affair begins Saturday, June 12 with scheduled events throughout the week, concluding on Saturday, June 19 with a free concert at Lake Eola Park.
The festivities kick off with the Gospel Best competition hosted at the St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church at 2025 W. Central Blvd on Saturday, June 12 at 6:00PM. Continuing through the week enjoy spoken work, literary review and jazz sessions hosted at various locations downtown.
Juneteenth ends on a soulful note with a day-long music festival held on Saturday, June 19 from 10:00AM to 10:00PM showcasing art, music and culture. The concert features the talented Con Funk Shun, the R & B tunes of Lakeside, saxophonist Early Thornton and the moving Brenda White and the White Boys.
This week-long celebration is a combination of history, entertainment and soul. For more information visit floridajuneteenth.com.
